Avian celebrates Diwali
Every year, the day before Diwali (popularly called choti Diwali), all Avian offices in the country perform Lakshmi Puja. This year, to make the day fun and exciting, a pot lunch was planned. The employees were divided into teams and each was assigned a dish. Hectic activities marked the days before the puja. Lists of essential items were drawn, a priest was fixed and mails were sent to all employees on the dress code - strictly ethnic.
On D-Day, the offices were decked up in marigolds, streamers and beautiful rangolis. There was a riot of colours, with the women dressed to the hilt in beautiful suits and sarees and the men in kurtas. For once on a Tuesday morning, everyone left their laptops and sat for the puja. The smell of the incense sticks and the priest’s chants added to the magic of the day. The puja over, everyone lined up for the delicious prasad. By then everyone was hungry. The idea of a pot luck lunch was a hit. The food was an interesting mix from all parts of the country and everyone had a ball. The day ended with every employee getting wonderful Diwali gifts. It was an apt beginning to the festival of lights!
